As you see i did a little poster thing which shows how i have improved with doing this project. The picture on the left our in relevant to the writing on the right and it all fits in. I wanted to do something different again as i wanted to make my evaluation different to anyone else's therefore made a sort of magazine page for this section of the evaluation enjoy :)

This is the poster i made i included all the things i used via the p.c; i didn't include the internet as i showed the internet when i took a picture of the computer. The computer is highlighted black as it is the key point and everything around it is from that. all the relevant information is on the poster hope you enjoy :).

I did this in a sort of mini poster sort of idea. I cut out all the key parts of the magazine and out them in the top right corner and then explained everything on the page.  Hope you enjoy :) x

Evaluation question 4

I did not draw a photo of my target audience i wanted to be more creative with this task therefore i made myself on photo shop as a cartoon with what my target audience would look like. As you see he is typically black as what most hip-hop culture target audience stereotype audience member looks like therefore i followed this rule. His hood up to give him that hip-hop feel as every hip-hop artist has 'swagga' and the hood represents that. He has a Adidas hoody on showing he shops in sports shops but at the same time he has a polo on underneath which shows he has some rich smart style as well; reflexes on 2 sides of a hip-hop artist 1 side which is the polo is outside him performing and the hoody is what he is like when performing if you understand me. As you see no pose on the shot showing again the hip-hop culture of serious giving the 'hard' act which most hip-hop artist have to give them a better look. This is typically what my target audience would look like and as i have explained above all of these factors will make them come and buy my magazine as they enjoy what hip-hop represents and hip-hop music. I focused on the way he looked and the clothes he was wearing the most as hip-hop is all about fashion and the way you look therefore i thought it was key to have in my picture of my target audience. Overall im happy with what i produced as it was creative and different to what any other person would do therefore i stand out making my work unique which i always love to do. 

Evaluation question 3

I choice to do a video for this evaluation section as i did not just want to do a voice over; i wanted to show me and show the marker how passionate i am for this type of music. I also didn't want it to be a boring voice over with nothing to watch i wanted something better therefore i choice to do a video of me explaining therefore using a different technology within my evaluation. Also i did not want to just follow what everyone else will be doing for this task i wanted to be different therefore making me unique.

Evaluation question 2

I picked this picture of T.I to compare with my front cover picture is due to the fact how similar they are. As you see they are both wearing a suit and tie which is different for a hip-hop magazine but shows the smart side to the audience which i love; also it makes it different to every common magazine of this genre again making it unique. As well as they are of the same skin colour again fitting in to the hip-hop genre as most hip-hop artist are of a black skin colour therefore fitting in. They both have the same hair style which again is common to the hip-hop culture as most the hip-hop artist have a bold cut like these 2 examples. There is not much difference between these 2 pictures as i used this magazine cover picture idea and changed it a little; the only thing which is different is T.I is smiling and i am looking sad this is just to do with the relevant of the magazine made title therefore making it more relevant to that. As you see i related my magazine picture to this magazine cover due to how different it is therefore again making it unique etc. 

Evaluation questions 1

I choice to do it this way and highlight the same factors underneath each split screen; the example way you explained i did not really understand so i followed a same pattern as another evaluation example you gave. It is the same idea as the other evaluation but the other ideas are more creative therefore equaling it out 

The title of magazine- it is in the same placement; same size and takes up the same space relevant to this magazine.

page layout- the layout of the information is the same as the professionally done magazine. The little key information which are laid out are in the same placement. The picture placement takes up most the magazines front cover like the professional 1 so it shows relevance.

costume/props- The same as each other they are both dressed smart showing they are rich. They dress smart to show there is another side to there hip-hop gangster reputation.

framing of image- I have a little white glow of the outline of the frame of my image which is different to the T.i framing image around him; he has no framing image and i do due to i wanted him to look more important; with this white line it represents he is more important

Title, font, headers and style- The size of the fonts are all matching the same size, the fonts are typically looking the same and all add effectiveness as there easy to read. The headers stand out over the normal text to ensure the audience read them first again making the magazine more effective.

How it reflex's the hip-hop culture- Both the magazine still have that 'swagga' in the image of a hip-hop artist; rich and powerful with there smart dress sense it is still showing they are a hip-hop artist through there skin colour and also due to the titles which represents that hip-hop culture.

How artist's are represented- in these they are represented as rich due to there choice of clothing. They are still seen as hip-hop as there look in the image covers up the smart sense.

Colour  scheme - both magazine they kept the colour simple; mostly both black and white but in mine i have got red coming out into it to make sure it follows its theme all the way through. This attracts the audience to it as it stands out.

The title of magazine-They have the same placement but different styles to present it as they are both placed in the right corner but the professional magazine has it going down the page but i kept mine simple and made it stay on 1 line.

page layout- My layout is tottally different to the professional magazine layout as mine is done in sort of columns and there's is simply a picture with text next to it. Mine still follows a normal rule of contents but does not follow this content page. It is effective as it is easy to understand due to the layout.

costume/props- I have 2 pictures on this page; 1 is a dj in mid way of doing a song his costumn is casual but still is effective as the dj gear makes him look professional. The other picture shows good and rich dress sence as he is wearing a sort of hip-hop culture jacket and a modern day top the pictures are still effective. On the professional magazine they have stuck to the smart role as again it shows of how ich they are.

framing of image- My images were framed inside a column in the content page but it adds to its effect. he framing on the other 1 is non-excisting as they just placed the image down but again as it was so well planned and thought of it still has that effect of being effective.

Title, font, headers and style- I made sure my fonts, title and headers stood out all the way through on the page so it was easy for the audience to read it; on the professional content they just kept it simple and made the text small with a simple font.

How it reflex's the hip-hop culture- my pictures reflect the hip-hop culture as they are all relevant to the culture; the dj is playijng mucis this culture needs music to make tracks and the other picture just shows the hip-hop smart style.

How artist's are represented- The artist on these pages are respesented as music man who are in the hip-hop industry and they reflect that with a high standard. On the professional magazine he is represented as the rich hip-hop star due to his suit.

Colour  scheme -

The title of magazine- Different placements of the titles on the magazine as mine is at the top and theres is on the left side; they are both effective but different placement is up to the person who is designing it.

page layout- The layout of these 2 double page spread are tottally different to each other as the professional 1 has no writing on 1 side and just pictures and my magazine has writiing on all sides these again is up to the designed choice when making the magazine if they want the layout of the text. The picture layout is half the same as 1 of my pictures is on the side where all of there pictures are. There both effective but 2 diffrent ideas.

costume/props- Both dressed smart and fashionable. In my magazine 1 half is dressed smart and the other half is dressed fashionable. On the professional magazine all the men are dressed smart but the lady is dressed fashionable therefore showing some relevance. 

framing of image- there were no framing for each image they were just placed in and inserted then moved around on the page finding a place which fitted and made the magazine look more effective.

On my magazine i have made the titles stand out and the text to a good size that the audience can read it without any hassle. The professional magazines title still stands out but there writing is set small and quite hard to read, also it is all apart from 1 section the same colour making it boring and not stand out.

How artist's are represented- My artist is represented on this page as emotional but still from the clothes he is wearing make him still have that sence of hip-hop around him. The other magazine artist represent rich, fame and fashion as there picture all get this message across.

Colour  scheme - I went for a stand out colour scheme to make the page catch the audience eye therefore making it more effective, also i made it follow a theme all the way through to have a professional style throughout the magazine. The other magazine cover has keep it simple as they want the audience to look at the image and text more then the colours on the page; This is effective if it is done correctly and this 1 is done to a high standard therefore it has worked.

evidence of using different technology to get feedback

I used facebook as well to see what my mates thought of my drafts and final ideas. It would post it on my wall and then this allows all my friends on facebook to see it therefore they can comment and like it. This was good as on my facebook most my friends listen to hip-hop music so there all my target audience members this means there option is of great importance to me. Here is a screen shot of my final content page with the likes and comments on it :).

I found this a good way to see weather it was good and effective as the likes shows if they like it :).. as you see i have 19 likes on this and it was only posted 22 minutes ago therefore in my view it is a job well done and they love what i have done for my final content page

Final Double Page Spread

Most the writting explaining why i have done this page is the same as the draft as i have not changed much from the draft to the final therefore if you think your reading over the same thing again it is due to the fact it is the same reasons :)

This was my final double page spread for my magazine. I designed it so it is simple and easy to read therefore the audience can read the important information easily and simply. Firstly i put the title at the top of the page so the audience new what the page was about from the start; this avoiding confusion and made it easier for them to understand. I also made it stand out more then anything else on the page to make them look at that first so again they new what the page was about; i followed the typical use of titles on this page as i wanted to make it look as professional as possible therefore followed the crowd with this part of the magazine. With the background again i wanted it to show the emotion of the interview in pictures and not in a background colour that is why i kept the background just 1 big imagine on each page which was turned into black and white to give it that emotional, sad aspect to the pages. The left picture on these pages had no emotion in his face; this was purposely done to show again that he is not happy and sad about what is going on in his life. The right picture shows the audience that he is trying to hide his emotions from people due to him being famous etc but now as he has only 1 hand over his face he is letting some emotion out with telling the audience what is happening but still is not letting completely all his emotion out; very cleaver picture when you look at it in the view i have just explained. Finally the writting colour use on this page i chose to make it simple to define the difference between the interviewer and the famous 'grim' therefore i choice black for the interviewer; i choice this colour for him as it is a very common colour used and as he is the least important person on this page i wanted to give him a dull and simple colour and give 'grim' a bright colour which stands out. I choice red for the colour writting which 'grim' answers will be in as like i have said above i wanted the audience to see a different between his writting and the interviews therefore as colour writting stands out more it shows that his writting is more important overall then the other bit of writting; also this kept to the theme of the magazine all the way through as these colours were used on the rest of the pages therefore making it more professional with a house theme all the way through. I took away writting from the bottom which was on the draft as there was too much writting on the page this was reflected back by the feedback i got given by my mate when he reviewed my draft. To change the boring look of the magazine i decided to insert my logo which i made for the magazine this was inserted at the bottom and again followed the red and black theme with it; this was good because the logo is on every page of my magazine this again links all the pages together about and makes the theme look more obvious therefore making it look more professional. I wanted a logo on every page therefore it followed my end user requirements and made me happier with its outcome. 

Overall i am happy with my double page spread; i don't think it is as good or effective as my front page or contents as in my view they were amazing. But still this is done to a high standard and a very good job has been done to make this very happy :). 

Final Content Page

This is the final design for my content page. I wanted to make it look professional overall thats why i put a lot of thought into it. I started at the top and as i have said before there is a logo on every page therefore i kept this theme and stuck it at the top left corner; i put this there so its out the way but the audience still look at it. I put the title of the page next to it which stands out in white; i did this because in every magazine the title is the first thing the audience looks at therefore i learnt from the skills of the professional and decided to do what they do. I put it in white as well which was on a black background to give it the most effective eye catching effective while it still looks professional. I put the date of the magazine realize at the top; this is for the collectors of the magazine as this magazine would be only realize once a month; therefore i'm looking out for every single sort of target seller we can. I put the date in the top right corner out the way but still in a place the audience look; i did this because stereotypically a date goes in a corner and it is normally right therefore i followed the crowd and putting it in that corner avoids confusion with the audience if they wonder why the date is in a invalid place. I made the top titles in a box to separate it from the other key information; also how it is at the top it shows its relevance of being read first and showing its importance just by it being separate from the other date therefore making it more effective. The content boxes on the left of the content page was a choice which was made by my good mate 'Jordan Tibbles'; as i was round his and designing it he thought of this idea and when i did it i believed it was very effective and looks professional. I made the titles over the boxes which held the information separate again i did this for the reason i have already said above to allow the audience more understanding therefore pointing out what that section is about before they get confused etc. I wanted the content to not be boring at all therefore i decided to enter some pictures which i planned on taking; i had the DJ picture at the top due to the fact it in my view is more effective to the modern age. As we know there is music nowadays upcoming which have dance music over rap and it is gets very big in the UK therefore i added this picture to show the upcoming hip-hop culture. I needed another picture in this to make it be even more effective but i wanted a picture which is the current/old hip-hop theme therefore i got my make Zak to dress up hip-hop style/r&b and took a picture of him; i love this picture as the pose he has done makes him look really cool this is what being famous is all about therefore giving it that professional feel even further. I choice black writting for all the main text as it is simple and easy to read; also i did not want too much colour on the content therefore keeping it simple for the information was the best choice in my view. I love how i made some of the more important bits in the text/numbers bigger then the less important therefore making the audience read them bits first again making sure they do not get confused with what they are reading.

As i have explained in the draft section of this magazine i was not happy with the yellow colour all over some sections of the page and it was all over the most important section of the page. Therefore i sat down with a few of my friends and discussed and tried a few different colours which i thought could have that perfect effect i was searching for. After a while i found the colour which i loved and the other colours within the page complemented that colour; i choice pinky red which again made everything look so much better; also i totally forgot about the theme i had to keep as red and black whats on every other page i had to change it to something which will go and keep the house theme. This was the only thing i changed from the draft to the final as i worked so hard to make the draft as good as i can it gave me little i could improve on to make it better.

Overall i'm very happy with what i made for my final content page. I believe it is 1 of the best pages i created for the magazine as it looks professional and overall amazing. I did this page to the best standard i could and i am very happy with what i produced :).

Final Front Cover

This is my final front cover. I wanted to make it as effective as i could and also i wanted it to look professional overall. I started by inserting the logo i made at the top of the Page; i did this because it has the name of the magazine on it and that's what it commonly on every magazine front cover therefore i thought i should do exactly what they do to avoid confusion. Also we wanted to make sure everyone new what magazine there reading therefore again we put it at the top for that reason. Within the logo there is the issue number we did this to suit the needs for every reader; due to collects to make it easier arrange there collection of magazine etc and made it overall more effective for a wider audience. I made sure the artists name stood out as well so it attracts the audience with his name; i did this as i seen a magazine which had lil wayne on it; it had lil waynes name which stood out and i new they did this for a reason of bringing the target audience over due to his reputation therefore i did this. I wanted to fill the page up with information therefore i put that little'tag' which lend on to the title; it was effective due to how it was a different story within the magazine it still was joint onto the main picture which i loved. This made it look more professional in my view. I new in most magazine there gave free gifts away and this attracts some customers to buy it due to the gift; this made me want to include this on my front cover. I wanted it to be different and made it in a diamond shape this allowed the audience to be attracted to look at it and if they are in mix emotions to buy it this could be the winner point which makes them buy it; i also did not put what the gift was as it was the whole surprise of the magazine therefore making them want to buy it to see what the whole surprise is.  Under the title 'Grim' i made it have 'exclusive' this again attracts them to it as no other magazine will have this interview in; i wanted to use a powerful but effective word therefore i used 'exclusive'. I love the picture of 'Grim' on this as it made the whole magazine look so much different to how a normal hip-hop magazine is done; the way he has a lot of emotion in this shows that he is not the whole 'hard' man which he makes out and shows a side to him which the target audience are not use to seeing. This was key to my whole magazine as you don't normally get a hip-hop artist being emotion therefore i wanted to bu unique and stand out from any other hip-hop magazine.  The background i changed from the blue eye catching background to something plain so the image has the whole affection of emotion which i wanted to create and have on the front cover. The writing on the page i changed from the yellow and black text on the page to red and black; i did this to keep the theme of the magazine overall making it more professional due to it keeping the house theme. Also i corrected the issue of the writing not being able to be able to be read to a easy standard therefore i am very happy with the change in the writing and titles which made the magazine overall better. I changed the 2 titles round 'jay-z and Kanya tour' and put it on the left instead of the right and i put the 'best of 2011 t.i' on the right as i believed it made it look overall much better and fitted in with the whole layout of the magazine. I inserted the bar code on the bottom right and made it a normal bar code as i thought the bar code on the draft took up to much room and was not valid to be on the magazine cover that big. I also filled the bottom right corner with more information as it was quite empty in that section and you don't see many magazines which have left space therefore i filled it to make it look more more professional. Finally i believed there was not enough key information titles on the right side of the magazine therefore i put some key artist names which again would make the magazine look more effective and overall draw the audience in as more famous artists involved in the magazine.

Overall I'm a very happy with my final front cover; it is effective and very professionally done. It was done to a high standard and reflex a professional magazine look. :)

Feedback for Drafts (audience)

I needed to get some feedback from the drafts I made and from people who will say what they liked about it and what they dislike about it. I had 3 drafts; 1 front cover draft, 1 content page draft and 1 double page spread draft. I wanted to find a easy way to get feedback without using a questionnaire as I have already done that in the project; so I thought why not get 3 people who know me well who will give me honest and truthful thinking so I decided to ask my mum (about the front cover), my best mate jordan tibbles(about the content page) and my nan (about the double page spread)as I know they will give me honest feedback about my work as they want the best for me.

Mum

'I love the picture you have got on the draft as it is very emotional and gives that effect onto the audience that the article within the magazine is real emotion. I love the layout of where all the writting is within the page it looks professional and looks like you have done a lot of thought within where you will place certain titles and key text. A bad thing about the writting is the colour reacts with the colour of the background and the picture making it hard to read; this is 1 thing i would recommand you change when you do your final as i would as a audience reader want to see and be able to read the titles and text on the front page with ease. I love mostly everything on it but the main thing i do not long on the draft page is the colour of the background; in my view it makes the draft look un-professional and just not got the the image of the picture. But overall if you change those 2 factors within the front page it will be a very good and high standard front magazine page. :)'.

Jordan Tibbles

I love the whole layout of this draft it just looks tottally professional and just gives that feel that a lot of time and effort has gone into it. I love the way you have the page numbers of certain key things which are in the magazine all along the side as it gives that feel of orginaliality which to me is very good as you are not following the crowd with yoru ideas. The pictures as we know were took by yourself and it just shows the time and effort you put into this by having to get your friends to for example set they dj set up etc. The picture quaility is very good and follows the hip-hop theme which needs to be continued all the way through the magazine. All the text on it is the correct size for the reader to be able to read it easily and simplily therefore making it overall better and more effective. The only bad factor i have about the content page is the colour of yellow text all the way through for the titles and certain important text within the page; i belive you need a darker colour which catchs the audience attention more then just yellow; i recommond red or black just my thought but overall this is a very good contents page and i would be happy to pay for a magazine which is this high quaility.

Nan

The layout to this is simple and easy which i like because i can just focus on reading the information without my eyes lending of to different bits on the page which catch my eye; therefore i can give 100% to the information allowing me to take it all in easier. The title in my view needs to be a little bit bigger to catch my eye more as it is important for a title to stand out within the page and with the title at the moment it does not catch my eye enough for it to be effective. I do like the text colour use on this page as it allows me to know easily which are the questions and which are the answers as there is a variation between the colours love that idea. The pictures on the page are perfect as again showing the emotion of unhappiness all over the page keeping the theme of the whole article which is very effective as it actually makes the reader feel sorry for him more as picture express emotion which is added by the writting overall making it better. 1 bad thing about the text is that in my view there is a little too much which just makes the page look a bit boring as it is just full of imformation; i would say take some writting of the 2nd page at the bottom and add the magazine logo as it carrys on the theme of each page, as thoughout the other pages have had it on therefore i think it needs to be on this page to keep a continue layout and theme.

She told discused this with me and i took notes of what she said then i wrote up what she say and what we discused about.

self Assessment Of My Drafts

My drafts were good but were still not up to the standard i wanted them to be; the fonts and some layout on them i needed to change and mix them round. The front cover draft was very good in my view but my fonts didn't go with my background and there were certain things i needed to mix round to make it look better and overall more effective. There was not that much i needed to change from the draft to the final as i did it to a high standard anyway so i was very happy with my front cover draft. My content page again i made sure it was done to a high standard from the start; i loved my content page draft as i thought it looked professionally made and effective. I do have some changes for it though as i didn't like my font that much so i will change my font and mess around with a few features on photoshop to give it that better look overall. My double page spread draft i wanted to keep simple and just concentrate on letting the audience read the article; i did not like the red writting i used on my draft as it conflicted with the background therefore it needs to be changes; i am not to sure about the title colour but not yet decided if i will change that or not yet but overall very happy with what i produced for my double page spread. Overall i'm happy with all my drafts as i did them to the standard i wanted and they look in my view professionally made therefore effective to attract my target audience.

As we know there is music nowadays upcoming which have dance music over rap and it is gets very big in the UK therefore i added this picture to show the upcoming hip-hop culture. I needed another picture in this to make it be even more effective but i wanted a picture which is the current/old hip-hop theme therefore i got my make Zak to dress up hip-hop style/r&b and took a picture of him; i love this picture as the pose he has done makes him look really cool this is what being famous is all about therefore giving it that professional feel even further. I choice black writting for all the main text as it is simple and easy to read; also i did not want too much colour on the content therefore keeping it simple for the information was the best choice in my view. I love how i made some of the more important bits in the text/numbers bigger then the less important therefore making the audience read them bits first again making sure they do not get confused with what they are reading. The logo colour is yellow so it stands out and catches the audience eye; looking back now i did not like the colour as it i thought it was too bright and too full on; this is what i thought about all the yellow writting and i decided i was going to change it for the final. Overall i'm very happy with what i created for my draft and in my view with a few upgrades i think it could be a perfect content. :)

Mock Version Of Magazine Cover



This is my draft front cover. I wanted to make it as effective as i could and also i wanted it to look professional overall. I started by inserting the logo i made at the top of the Page; i did this because it has the name of the magazine on it and that's what it commonly on every magazine front cover therefore i thought i should do exactly what they do to avoid confusion. Also we wanted to make sure everyone new what magazine there reading therefore again we put it at the top for that reason. Within the logo there is the issue number we did this to suit the needs for every reader; due to collects to make it easier arrange there collection of magazine etc and made it overall more effective for a wider audience. I made sure the artists name stood out as well so it attracts the audience with his name; i did this as i seen a magazine which had lil wayne on it; it had lil waynes name which stood out and i new they did this for a reason of bringing the target audience over due to his reputation therefore i did this. I wanted to fill the page up with information therefore i put that little'tag' which lend on to the title; it was effective due to how it was a different story within the magazine it still was joint onto the main picture which i loved. This made it look more professional in my view. I new in most magazine there gave free gifts away and this attracts some customers to buy it due to the gift; this made me want to include this on my front cover. I wanted it to be different and made it in a diamond shape this allowed the audience to be attracted to look at it and if they are in mix emotions to buy it this could be the winner point which makes them buy it; i also did not put what the gift was as it was the whole surprise of the magazine therefore making them want to buy it to see what the whole surprise is.  Under the title 'Grim' i made it have 'exclusive' this again attracts them to it as no other magazine will have this interview in; i wanted to use a powerful but effective word therefore i used 'exclusive'. I love the picture of 'Grim' on this as it made the whole magazine look so much different to how a normal hip-hop magazine is done; the way he has a lot of emotion in this shows that he is not the whole 'hard' man which he makes out and shows a side to him which the target audience are not use to seeing. This was key to my whole magazine as you don't normally get a hip-hop artist being emotion therefore i wanted to bu unique and stand out from any other hip-hop magazine. The background i put as blue as i thought it could stand out and catch the eye of the audience; but when i reviewed it i did not like the background as i thought it did not give the full effective of the picture which i wanted. The writing on the page was yellow (for the main title/text/numbers) and black (for the information) i wanted this again to stand out; but again when i reviewed it i did not like these colours at all due to they were hard to read on the background and over the picture which i could not have on the front page as i needed to to be the most effective page, no faults would be accepted on this page. I had key titles with key artists 'jat-z and Kanya tour' on the right of the page and i had 'best of 2011 t.i behind bars';i loved the titles of these as there effective and straight down to the point; the only issue i did not like was the placement which they were therefore when i make the final i will change them around to make it more effective overall. As you see the bar code is on the bottom right which i made myself it also had the logo on the magazine in; when i reflected back on this i did not like it as it should just be as simple as possible due to that has no relevant to the magazine information therefore when i make the final 1 i will keep it simple.

Overall I'm very happy with the draft made for my front cover. I know what i did wrong and i new what i liked about therefore i know what my final changes would be. I did this to a high standard and am very happy with what i produced.

casting pictures used within the content page

i had to get 2 pictures for my content page idea; 1 of my mates dj's so i used him djing as 1 of my photo which i took at 1 of his events as the magazine is about music therefore following the theme of the magazine. Also my other mate has the style of the hip-hop look which looks good and i thought it would be effective so i  took a picture of him as well again following the whole theme of the other pages. I used both these pictures in the content page which made it in my view look more professional and better overall. ( i took both these photos myself with my blackberry)

As you see this is a picture of my mate djing; i thought this would be effective because it looks professional and shows the amount of effort i put into thinking about the picture layout etc. Also as we are seeing there are more songs now with rap over dance so i wanted to show that hip-hop culture is bringing in different types therefore showing the variation. To take this shot i had to go to 1 of his events he played at and take a in action shot of him djing with my blackberry.

I needed a picture of a R&B looking singer and as my mate looks the part of the hip-hop culture i choice him to be on it. I told him to dress stylish so it suited the rich and famous money context which i wanted to have present at some point in the magazine. His skin colour is brown therefore it suits the magazine a lot better as in hip-hop most of the famous singer/rapper are of a ethnic background. I wanted to make him look serious so it does not get the effect of cheesy over to the audience; i wanted it to look professional and overall good therefore i made him do a normal pose.

Interview With Grim

This is the article on word but it will be inserted onto a double page spread but i just wanted to show you what the final article is about. I am very happy with the article i wrote as i made it interested, different and overall good therefore its perfect for the double page spread.

Idea For Article

As i have got my pictures i had to chose now what the article is going to be about. I am going to put this picture on the front cover:

This will be on the front cover of course it will have been edited on photoshop and put in background with the rest of the front cover over it but it made me think; if you look at the photo closely it has so much emotion in it and as he is meant to be famous it made me think of a really good idea. My idea was to have a interview article which has the heading 'Life Is Not All That Easy Being Famous', this would be easy to write a article too and also a original idea for a magazine therefore making it overall better and different meaning more audience want to read it.

This idea in my view was perfect for the magazine as the picture reflexes to stress and is a very good photo shot. I decided then this is what my article will be about and standard interview which will ask him about his famous life which is more interesting that most double page spread articles. The set out of it i decided to be the interviews writing in a different colour to 'grim' therefore making it easier to read throughout and look more professional. This is the idea i am going with for the article and overall very happy with what i thought of :).

Questions I Will Use For Article

I had to choice some questions which grim would be asked in the double page spread. This questions had to be effective and be overall good. Here are the questions i have picked for the double page spread:

When you say ‘argument’s’ what do you mean I.e like who with? (question already be planned)

These are all the questions which will be asked. I am very happy with my chose of questions they are open questions so grim can talk move about it making the magazine more interesting. 

Uploading the Photos

This is the phone which I used throughout taking photos for my magazine. It allowed me to be able to take pictures to a high quality and showed everything of my process making the magazine etc. overall gave me images which i could upload with ease and straight up to the computer therefore saving me time.

This was with me at all times so if i needed to take a photo at a random time i could just take my blackberry out and then upload it straight to blogspot; made everything so much easier for me at this aspect.

Test Shots For Magazine

These were the shots i took for my magazine and i had to try different shots within it which allowed me to see which shots looked good or bad. Giving me a variation of choice making it overall a better picture as i would of experimented.

These were the shots i took for the front cover of the magazine as you see i got some ideas from different hip-hop magazines which i found on the Internet etc. I wanted to test what i will look like in a shirt and tie to give it that effect of them being rich and classy; i loved the way it came across as i seen in within other magazine therefore i thought i wanted to see what it would look like on me. I also had a very serious and angry shot on there this is because i seen a magazine which showed anger of the artist and it was effective as it had so much emotion in the picture that's what i tried to catch in the pictures i took; also it gives that sort of gangster feel to the magazine and most hip-hop artist see them-self's as the 'hard' man etc. I had some cheeky smiles on some shots as well because i seen again a example of a magazine which has t.i smiling and it had the effect of happiness which came across to the audience by them just looking at the photo. My favorite photo overall was the last 1 we took of him having his head down with his hand on his head with the shirt and tie on; that picture to me created a lot of emotion of stress and allowed my thoughts to go on to what could be the title and be in the article; for example i thought something like 'being famous ain't so easy' and allowed my thoughts to widen that is why i loved that picture out of the rest.

This is my audience profiling and it describes some key factors about the target audience which are for my genre of music. I covered the made titles and information explaining there lifestyles, age, gender etc.  All this put together shows are target audience for the audience who will buy our magazine.

Feedback From Pitch

I needed to get feedback from the 25 word pitch i did for my project. For this i thought it would be best to hand out a easy and simple 5 question questionnaire to everyone in the class which allows me to see what they liked about the pitch and what they think i should improve on with the ideas i talked about.

in this i just kept to what i will do .. for example i just said about bling looks how they dress and money and just labeled the key factors this will all be key for my magazine as it will include all these things to make it fit the hip-hop culture. i kept it simple and not complex so the audience can see what hip-hop is about :).

Information For 25 Word Pitch

With finding the information for my 25 word pitch all i needed to do was search my topic areas. I new what they all meant as i listen to hip-hop anyway and its my genre of music therefore i new whats it is all about. I researched:

All these are key to what a hip-hop magazine is about. I new what they all meant already so i did not have to do much research around the topic area just had to point out the main bits from it. This all put together with some pictures made the 25 word pitch. This was quite easy for me as i new the genre very very well as i have listen and read magazines on this type of music for years therefore making my knowledge great on this subject. With all this information i had i just inserted pictures and then my pitch was all ready to be set up :). 

Market Research

i researched into market research for my type of music. It seems to me that it is all about the image of the artist and if he has money, clothes, cars and gets girls he has got that perfect hip-hop culture image. To sell magazines in this genre you need to show this throughout the magazine. It always has to show the artist looking good and having that sense of 'swagga'.

I knew straight away which genre of music i wanted to do for my magazine, mainly because it’s my favorite genre, which is Hip-Hop. i had many clear ideas of what i wanted to do but all very different. I had totally different ideas therefore i needed to ask my mates, teachers and target audience to find out which was the best ideas. The target age for Hip-Hop is around 16– 25 years ago. This works out well for me as that’s my age range and all have many friends in that age range which i then asked for their thoughts about my ideas. We are aiming the magazine at 16-25 year olds who love hip-hop music, also probably most our target audience would be of a black race as there brought up to like this type of music; but on the other hand todays age everyones listens to different music therefore we live the target audience open to everyone.

i have spoken to a few friends to try and get there input but i didn’t think that would be enough so i decided that i would have to ask more people. i think it would be best to do some sort of questionnaire to find out exactly what the audience like in a video and see my ideas fit with the target audience likes. 

To advertise i thought i could put posters up of the magazine front cover each week in certain places; like bus stops etc this would be good because the target audience would see it around then when they see it in the shops  they would maybe look and buy the magazine. It would also spread the word of the magazine company name therefore giving it a good reputation which you need in this game; this allows the company name to become bigger and generate more fans. 

Analysis Institutions Who Will Publish My Magazine

There's a wide market for hip-hop magazines but there are some main ones which take over the whole hip-hop scene. The biggest ones are:

Vibe:

As you see this is the vibe magazine its very big in the hip-hop magazine market and is very popular with people who like to read and enjoy this type of music. If we wanted to get our magazine out there in this type of difficult market we would have to create a magazine which has better story's and looks overall better we should have a good shot in the market. We could write to them to see if they would publish are magazine and join together that is another idea.

Vibe:

Again this is big in the market for hip-hop music. Again if i wanted to join them and ask if they will be a institution which will produce my magazine and they agree it would allow me to have more contacts within the business but on a serious note i don't think they would agree to it due to the competition it may cause against there own business.

With trying to find a institution who will produce my magazine it will be very hard as a new up coming magazine is very hard to get on the market as people are so use to buying there normal vile or source therefore trying to make them come out of there normal routine is hard. Therefore with getting some to publish your magazine i believe with this you should publish it yourself and be your on institution this allows you to keep all the shares of the business and still be your own boss. Also it eliminates any problems of conflict which my of came about if you allowed someone else to publish the magazine. This overall in my view saves a lot of problems.

Title Examples And Final Title Name

I was thinking to myself about what the magazine name could be as it is a very important factor in the whole project as that title has to tell the audience it is a hip-hop magazine as well as being effective and a good name. I asked a few of my mates and we came up with a choice of 5 names:

-Swag
-Observation
-Hip-Hop
-Say no more
-Musik

I thought long and hard about these name choices and i started to eliminate them 1 by 1; first of i eliminated 'Say no more' as in my view it was to long to have as a title on the magazine due to the fact titles of magazine are normal short and easy to read therefore catching the audience attention better. I then thought about 'observation' and decided that name was invalid to what i was doing as it sounds more like a house magazine etc then a hip-hop magazine therefore i decided to get rid of that idea from the name choices. I then thought about the title 'swag' i did like this name but i just thought it sounded about 'chavy' and would not draw some of are target audience to come read it therefore i decided to get rid of that name as well. So i was down to the last 2 names and thinking straight i did not want a average normal name i wanted a name which was different therefore not simple; so i picked 'Musik' to be my title name as it is different and it catches the audience eye as it is not spelt normally therefore making them come read it; It also is good because it can attract any type of music listener over as it does not just make the magazine sound like its focused on just hip-hop therefore it could attract audience members which are not even our target audience/market therefore making it overall much better.

I'm very happy with my title name and made sure i researched the names before i just jumped straight into naming it therefore it shows i planned it all and took my time.
